Learning Outcome

By the end of the strand, you should be able to handle the common household products with care.

Introduction

There are many household products that we use at home for different purposes. Some are used as disinfectants, detergents, insecticides, and pesticides.

For example, when cleaning the clothes, we use detergents. Disinfectants like methylated spirit are applied on fresh wounds to kill germs. Pesticides are used to control household pests like rats and cockroaches.

These household products are not supposed to be swallowed or inhaled. Some have fumes which when inhaled cause dizziness. All disinfectants and pesticides are harmful and should be kept away from children.
