By the end of this strand, you should be able to describe the effects of HIV and AIDS.

Introduction

HIV is an illness just like any other when treatment is taken. It is very important for all people living with HIV to go to see a doctor and get ARVs.

When a person living with HIV does not take treatment or stops taking treatment given to them by the doctors, the virus attacks and kills the white blood cells and the person becomes very ill. They are unable to go to work or school. They can be hospitalised because of being ill.
